For one tax client, the move to Florida, from Massachusetts did not go unnoticed by the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, who tried to assert the taxpayer owed Massachusetts taxes on certain parts of his income. Research performed by TLB supported the treatment of the income as non-Massachusetts income and therefore no tax. The Department of Revenue relented on its assertion and subsequently the advice was passed on to other non-clients in similar circumstances whose trust, investment and tax advisors had missed these points and utilized our research to save their clients Massachusetts tax dollars for the prior three years and going forward.
