As a result of routine audit procedures and questioning, TLB recognized an internal control deficiency in the Treasury Department of a client. Following through on this deficiency resulted in identifying a theft of approximately $3,500. The theft was identified early due to our procedures and the cooperation of Town staff in the audit process. The Town was able to recover the funds, avoid any additional losses and to this day has very strong internal control.
